CUPS fails to start with NIS group in SystemGroup at boot time

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

If we place an NIS group name in the SystemGroup parameter in /etc/cups/cups-files.conf then CUPS will not start correctly at boot time and gives an error message saying there's a bad group.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.3
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.6.3
  • Network Information Service (NIS)
