ipa-adtrust-install failed to start the CIFS services when system's hostname is not FQDN

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

When trying to configure a trust with AD, the 1st step is to prepare the environment by executing the ipa-adtrust-install. In the case that the system's hostname does not include the domain part (FQDN) - while the system is properly defined in the DNS server - although the ipa-adtrust-install command will finish successfully, the CIFS services configuration will fail and eventually will not be in RUNNING status

Environment

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.2 (Maipo), with external DNS server configured
ipa-server-4.2.0-15.el7_2.15.x86_64
ipa-server-trust-ad-4.2.0-15.el7_2.15.x86_64
