Getting `bad display name` on `vncservice restart` in Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Issue

  • After getting the access of the vncviewer following is observed.
# service vncserver restart
Shutting down VNC server: 1:vnc 2:root                     [  OK  ]
Starting VNC server: 1:vnc xauth:  timeout in locking authority file /home/vnc/.Xauthority

New '<hostname>:1 (vnc)' desktop is <hostname>:1

Starting applications specified in /home/vnc/.vnc/xstartup
Log file is /home/vnc/.vnc/<hostname>:1.log

2:root xauth: (stdin):1:  bad display name "<hostname>:2" in "add" command

New '<hostname>:2 (root)' desktop is <hostname>:2

Starting applications specified in /root/.vnc/xstartup
Log file is /root/.vnc/<hostname>:2.log

                                                           [  OK  ]
