Docker Containers has no repos if host is registered with Red Hat Satellite 5.x

Issue

  • We have Satellite 5.6 in house, the Docker server is RHEL 7.3 and registered with our Satellite server, we are building our container image by Dockerfile but failed on building image with error message as There are no enabled repos
  • How can I patch docker images provided by Red Hat, on the RHEL containers when running on a RHEL 7 host which is subscribed to channels on a local Red Hat Satellite 5.7 server gives message as:
[root@host01 ~]# docker run -it rhel /bin/bash
[root@ca6f91e12345 /]# 
# yum repolist
Loaded plugins: ovl, product-id, search-disabled-repos, subscription-manager
This system is not registered to Red Hat Subscription Management. You can use subscription-manager to register.
repolist: 0
