CUPS commands do not seem to honor the "-h" command line option

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • In RHEL 6 and below, "lpstat -h ${server}" would connect to IPP services on the remote system. On RHEL 7, this is ignored if ServerName is set in client.conf
  • The ServerName defined in /etc/cups/client.conf takes precedence over the -h command line option. This was not the case in earlier releases.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.3
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.6.3
