Where are the JBoss AOP jars in EAP?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
    • 6.x
    • 7.x

Issue

  • We are migrating from EAP 5.x to EAP 6 and cannot find the JBoss AOP jars. Can you tell us where these have been moved to?
  • Need an alternate library of com.redhat.jboss:jboss-aop-client:5.1.2.0 that is supported in Jboss eap7

Resolution

JBoss AOP is no longer used in EAP 6.x, 7.x, and future versions and there is no direct replacement.

The JavaEE spec has EJB3 interceptors available which were included in EAP 6, and it is recommended to use either this or a separate AOP implementation as these jars are no longer included.

Although this feature can be used, note that it is not supported as it is custom code or like any other third-party library that the application artifact might use.
