System boot fails with error "unknown filesystem type 'jmicron_raid_member'"

Issue

  • System is failing to boot. Boot process fails with:
   Found device /dev/mapper/rhel_root-root
   starting file system check....
   fsck.jmicron_Raid_member doesn't exist, not checking file system on...
   ...
   Mounting /sysroot
   mount: unknown filesystem type 'jmicron_raid_member'
   Failed to mount /sysroot

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
    • Other versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux may also be affected.
