Why does not recognize /dev/st0 device ?

Issue

• Insert DAT tape to usb tape device and runs below command and meet below error.
  Why does not recognize /dev/st0 device and how can solve it ?

  # mt -t /dev/st0 status
   /dev/st0: No such file or directory
