Issue

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Client 64-bit installation is aborted midway with the below error message while using a 4GB disk with the default packages selected.

    There was an error running your transaction, for the following reason(s): insufficient disk space
    You need more space on the following filesystems: 108M on /
    
  • The installation should not have been aborted midway citing reason of insufficient disk space. If the disk space is insufficient, then the installation should not start.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (Server or Client)
  • Install from DVD or CD with default package set
  • 4 GB disk for Client, 3 GB disk for Server
