Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • Ceph - Creating encrypted OSD sometimes fails
  • When creating encrypted OSD nodes by using the --dmcrypt option with the ceph-deploy utility, the underlying ceph-disk utility fails to create second journal partition on same journal device that is used by another OSD.
  • ceph-deploy logs have below given warning, which is causing this issue:
Warning: The kernel is still using the old partition table.
The new table will be used at the next reboot.

Environment

  • Red Hat Ceph Storage 1.3.x
