Why the external monitor gets black screen after hibernate mode?

Issue

  • Why the user is not able to get display on external monitor after resuming the system from hibernate mode undocked?
  • The external monitor connected to system is no longer detected when invoking hibernation undocked, or waking the system undocked. The only way to recover from this situation is to restart the system.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.8
  • kernel-2.6.32-642.1.1.el6.x86_64
  • xorg-x11-server-utils-7.7-14.el6.x86_64
