- Infrastructure SKU:
- MCT2741 Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform Broker/Master Infrastructure, Premium (instance)
Instead of asking our customers to purchase the Infrastructure SKU, we decided to automatically give customers access to 10 instances of entitlements to be used for infrastructure nodes (OpenShift’s framework) for every agent node they purchased. Ultimately this would over entitle customers with more infrastructure nodes than they could ever use making them unlimited and customers would no longer need to worry about scoping their environments to see if they had enough infrastructure SKUs ordered.
The first implementation of this new model had issues within Red Hat’s backend procurement systems. The access to the RPM yum channels and docker images for the Infrastructure SKU were added to the OpenShift agent node SKU. We then increased the count of entitlements on the agent node from 1 to 11. Thus every agent node SKU entitled 11 nodes (10 for use on infrastructure nodes and 1 for use on agent nodes). Although this was clearly understood on the customer’s purchase order and ownership documentation, it caused confusion in entitlement systems like Red Hat Satellite and Red Hat’s customer portal.
