Host VNC or Spice console in Satellite 6.2 or newer

Issue

Remote VNC or Spice console does not connect with various errors:

  • WebSock error: [object Event]

If you used Add Exception - Confirm security exception in Firefox, this will not help and Console will not be available. The proper solution is to add Satellite 6 CA server certificate under known CAs in the browser and also access the server under it's fully qualified domain name. This articles explains the necessary steps.

Environment

  • Satellite 6
  • Firefox versions 35 and later
  • Chrome versions 28 and later

Note the following browsers are not supported and VNC or Spice console will not work.

  • Internet Explorer
  • Safari
