OpenShift Deployments fail with i/o timeout

Issue

• Error when deploying pods to a node.
• Error in deployment logs couldn't get deployment myproject/myapplication : Get https://example.openshift.com:443/api/v1/namespaces/myproject/replicationcontrollers/myapplication-5: dial tcp example.openshift.com:443: i/o timeout
• Pod is not able to make any network connections.
