Is it necessary to run fsck after every 180 days or 38 umounts?
Issue
- Whenever a new file system is created with mkfs, it generates a informational messages as below:
This filesystem will be automatically checked every 38 mounts or
180 days, whichever comes first. Use tune2fs -c or -i to override.
- Is it good idea to let it run after every 180 days or 38 umounts or should it be tuned or disable it altogether?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5/6
- Filesystem EXT3/EXT4
