Volume groups set to use VMware's pvscsi drivers not activating on boot.

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • When updating the kernel VMware's pvscsi driver module isn't included in the new kernel's initrd image. This causes the storage devices that are set to use pvscsi don't come online quick enough on boot, in turn causing the server not to boot.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
