How to add the screen id to the spicec window title in RHEL6

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The spice client is used to connect from the command line to a Virtual Machine running on the same host. At the moment we're running two identical Virtual Machines with each 5 virtual heads. Both Virtual Machines have screens named SPICEc:[0-4]. If the --title option is supplied all screens belonging to the same VM get the same name. Either way it's hard for the user to determine what screen belongs to what VM or it's impossible to use something like devilspie to automatically place the windows based on the title.
  • Is it possible to make the --title option include the screen number? E.g. in our case the --title "VKL 2" makes the window title like "VKL 2:[0-4]
  • spicec window title doesn't show virtual screen number

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • spicec
  • KVM
