OpenSSH only looks for .k5login in user directory

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • OpenSSH looks for the .k5login file every time GSSAPI/Kerberos is used in the users home directory. This is assuming that the users home directory is accessible or exists at the time of the login. This is not allowing the use of krb5.conf to change to an alternate path for the .k5login if needed.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2
  • openssh.x86_64 6.6.1p1-25.el7_2
