CUPS sends LPD data as "RAW" (with formatting characters), not text

Issue

I have set up a generic textonly queue that sends data from Linux to a remote LPD server. The server expects the data to be text, but it is showing up as type "raw", which affects how it is handling certain printer codes.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS)
