Does Red Hat Enterprise Linux provide the /etc/sysctl.d directory?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When installing RPMs that also modify /etc/sysctl.conf you need to make sure the %pre and %post scripts from the RPM remove the added section when deleting the RPM. This also applies to RPM upgrades. Is there a directory /etc/sysctl.d/ where one can drop a .conf file in with custom sysctl tunings?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
