Why DNS is unable to resolve host names other than its local zone files in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6?

Issue

When DNS server receives a query for a zone for which it is not authoritative it asks root DNS servers about authoritative DNS servers for requested zone. But, DNS is unable to resolve host names other than its local zone files.
