ipmitool fails with 'RAKP 4 message has invalid integrity check value' in RHEL 6

Issue

  • fence_ipmilan is not working
  • I am not able to connect to an ipmilan management device.
  • When run in verbose mode, ipmitool fails as follows:

    # ipmitool -vv -H HOST_OR_IP -I lanplus -U USER -P PASSWORD chassis power status
    [...]
    > RAKP 4 message has invalid integrity check value
    Error: Unable to establish IPMI v2 / RMCP+ session^M
    Unable to get Chassis Power Status

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • ipmitool
