Why did my LVM resource fail to stop after reconfiguring via cluster.conf on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • I added the self_fence="1" on both fs and lvm resource but then when I save the new configuration and ran the ccs_tool to propagate the new config to the other node the /var/log/messages has logged below:
ccsd[25007]: Update of cluster.conf complete (version 66 -> 67).
clurgmgrd[25112]: <notice> Reconfiguring
clurgmgrd[25112]: <notice> stop on lvm "biprod_appvg" returned 1 (generic error)

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (with the High Availability or Resilient Storage Add Ons)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 (with the High Availability or Resilient Storage Add Ons)
  • Red Hat High Availibility Cluster with at least 2 nodes.
  • rgmanager to manage cluster resources
    • LVM resources are in use, and the parameters were changed in some way.
    • The cluster.conf was updated and propagated to the cluster nodes, and rgmanager detected a change in the LVM resource.
