How do I examine a specific partition of a disk after capturing the front of the disk with a utility such as 'dd'?

Issue

I've captured the front of a disk device using dd and need to examine the dd output file.
The disk information I've captured contains partitions. I want to examine a specific partition to see if it contains any filesystem metadata.
I'm performing a 'Root Cause Analysis' have captured on disk metadata for examination, how do I mount the metadata as if it's a true disk device for further analysis?
