RHV4 changes disk order when non-default names are used

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

The method to determine the order of disks, attached to a VM, has changed, starting RHV4. With RHEV, up until RHEV 3.6, used an internal property, for this purpose, which made it difficult to reorder disks. Starting from RHV4, this order is based on disk names.

When upgrading RHEV3.x to RHV4, disks may change order in some situations, where non-standard disk names are used.

Apart from this change, the disk order shows in a different order than how the disks are presented in the VM, in multiple places.

Environment

  • Red Hat Virtualiziation 4.0
  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.6, upgraded to RHV4
