Why do logical volume get fsck'd and mounted automatically when activated in RHEL 7?

  • When activating or importing a logical volume after the system is running:
    • the logical volume is automatically filesystem checked
    • the logical volume is automatically mounted
  • How to prevent systemd from performing automatic fsck and mounting of an LV when activated
