Files or directories on a GFS2 file system show different ownership across nodes in the cluster in a RHEL 5, 6, or 7 Resilient Storage cluster
Issue
- If I go on node1 and
chown -R user:group /directoryon a GFS2 file system, then the ownership on node2 changes fromuser:groupto503:group, and vice-versa if I do this from the other node... - When I change the ownership on GFS2 files or directories from one node, I see the ownership on the other node changes to a numeric value instead of the user account it was assigned to.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5, 6, or 7 with the Resilient Storage Add-On
- GFS2
- User accounts that access a GFS2 file system from multiple nodes
- One or more of those user accounts is mapped to a different UID or GID across nodes
