mkdumprd Fails to Configure Mellanox Nics on RHEL 6.2 server

Issue

  • On hosts that use a Mellanox NIC and have kdump configured do dump via a 'net' device we see this error when generating a kdump initrd:
# service kdump restart
Stopping kdump:                             [  OK  ]
No kdump initial ramdisk                    [WARNING]
Rebuilding /var/crash/boot/initrd-2.6.32-220.7.1.el6.x86_64kdump.img
No module modprobe found for kernel 2.6.32-220.7.1.el6.x86_64, aborting.
Failed to run mkdumprd
