Should LVM multi-disk volumes in AWS use the tuning recommendations for JBOD or for RAID?
Issue
The Administration Guide recommends different strategies for tuning RAID vs. JBOD. (https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Storage/3.1/html/Administration_Guide/chap-Configuring_Red_Hat_Storage_for_Enhancing_Performance.html)
The Deployment Guide for Public Cloud recommends combining several underlying disks into one LVM volume,
which could potentially be RAID-like. (https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Storage/3.1/html/Deployment_Guide_for_Public_Cloud/ch02s03.html#Provisioning_Storage_for_Three-way_Replication_Volumes)
In the Administration guide, which should be followed, the tuning practices for JBOD or for RAID?
Or is there a different tuning recommendation altogether?
