SNMP reporting incorrect link speed on bonded interface

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When the SNMP master server contacts the RHEL  box, it asks for metrics from Ethernet devices.  One such metric is the  number of bytes passed. Another parameter extracted is the speed of  the interface.  When the interface reports 20 Mbps traffic on a link  thats advertising 10Mbps, the error flag is generated.   We need to get  the SNMP queries to the RHEL SNMP client to properly report the  Link-Speed of the active member of the bonded interface. Worst case  would be a bonded pair of 100Mbps and 1000Mbps, with the 1000Mbps  active.

  • A properly handled SNMP query should check #bytes  passed and the link speed of the active member of the bonded interface,  perhaps?
