JBoss Fuse 6.2.1: How to recover a lost Fabric ensemble replica if the entire machine and its installation of JBoss Fuse is gone?

Issue

We are running a Fabric ensemble cluster consisting of three or five replicas in a virtualization environment.
Now the VM running one of the Fabric ensemble replicas has crashed and cannot be recovered.
How can we restore the Fabric ensemble given that we cannot restore the VM but need to generate a new VM that will have a different IP address and hostname.
