RHEL6.7: Apache using cifs mount with kerberos authentication for 'htdocs', mount fails after 15 minutes

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • I am using a Windows fileshare for my 'htdocs' on an Apache website. Everything works find until 15 minutes passes and the website can no longer access the fileshare. However, from the commandline I can access the fileshare, and upon my first access (df or ls) the cifs.upcall is done and the website is now good again for another 15 minutes.
    • Getting Kerberos ticket is successful
    • Mounting CIFS fileshare is successful
    • Maintaining mount accessibility after 15 minutes (some key/credential must have a 900second expiration) fails

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7
    • kernel prior to kernel-2.6.32-642.4.2.el6
  • cifs share with kerberos (sec=krb5) authentication
  • Apache website utilizing cifs share for 'htdocs'
