Need help with creating udev rules to set owner and group for ASM logical volumes in Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Issue

  • Trying to create udev rules to set group and owner on /dev files for asm volumes.
  • Rules that work in RHEL 6, do not work in RHEL 5.
  • Required is a rule on RHEL5 that would change ownership on the /dev/mapper/* files when the LVs are named asm*.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6
    • Oracle ASM
    • lvm
