Dependency of custom RPM not being pulled in by yum update in RHEL 5

Solution Verified - Updated -

  • Two custom packages exist and an initial release of each is installed.  A new version of each is released and placed in the yum repo, one with

    Requires: perl(ex::ample) >= 1.1

and one with

Provides: perl(ex::ample) = 1.1

Using yum to update the first package does not pull in the second as a dependency

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5
  • yum (any version)
