PostgreSQL fails to start because it cannot create shared memory segments of 512G
Issue
DB startup fails because system is unable to create shared memory segments bigger than 256GB
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (< RHEL-6.3);
- Applications resorting to big (>256GB) shared memory segments via
mmap(2)/shmget(2)syscalls - 64bit architecture
