Explanation for JON Thread Count for JBoss AS Server

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • I would like to request some clarification on the Thread Count metric.
    We are trying to monitor the thread pool usage on our deployment boxes and wold like to be made aware if we are getting anywhere close to the upper limit. In our standalaone-full-ha.xml (configuration file for JBoss AS), there is an entry which states:
<thread-pools>
     <thread-pool name="default">
          <max-threads count="10"/>
          <keepalive-time time="100" unit="milliseconds"/>
     </thread-pool>
</thread-pools>

So I was expecting to see numbers around that value when I turned on the Thread Count metric, However, I am getting values int he 52-540 range.
- Can you please clarify what the Thread Count metric that I have enabled actually measures? Is this in any way related to the thread-pool configuration that we have for our AS?
