nscd file descriptor leak on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 results in users not being able to log on
Issue
- nscd blocks users from logging in after reaching a maximum of 1024 open file descriptors due to a file descriptor leak
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.8
- nscd-2.3.4-2.43
- nss_ldap-253-7.el4
- System is configured to use LDAP with START_TLS for authentication
- nscd is enabled
