Satellite 6.2 upgrade fails with flag "--noop" and gives "cant register proxy <fqdn>" error

Issue

  • When running the Red Hat Satellite 6 installer with the "--noop" flag to see if the install will work and to see what changes are going to be made, we get the following error:
 /Stage[main]/Foreman_proxy::Register/Foreman_smartproxy[sat61-rhel7.example.com]: Could not evaluate: Proxy sat61-rhel7.example.com cannot be registered (Connection refused - connect(2)): N/A
Installing             Error: /Stage[main]/Foreman_proxy::Register/Forema [99%] Installing             Notice: Stage[main]: Would have triggered 'refresh [99%] Installing             Done                                               [100%]Installing             Done                                               [100%] []
  Something went wrong! Check the log for ERROR-level output
  The full log is at /var/log/foreman-installer/satellite.log
