Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Getting the following error when trying to configure shmmin and shmseg in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4.
    #sysctl -w kernel.shmseg=128; sysctl -w kernel.shmmin=1
error: "kernel.shmseg" is an unknown key
error: "kernel.shmmin" is an unknown key

  • How to change kernel.shmseg in RHEL5 default is much more higher but when i have to check it's impossible to change kernel.shmeg default value in RHEL5 because kernel.shmseg values hardcoded.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4

  • shared memory
