How to plug heapster with kafka ?

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • When we add a "kafka" sink (https://github.com/kubernetes/heapster/tree/heapster-old/kafka) in the replication controller "heapster", the pod can't start : Unknown sink: kafka\n","
    Example : --sink=kafka:?brokers=10.x.x.x:9092&brokers=10.x.x.x:9092&brokers=10.x.x.x:9092&timeseriestopic=heapster-metrics&eventstopic=heapster-events
The same test is ok if we use an heapster container based on origin (openshift/origin-metrics-heapster:latest).
We want to replicate metrics to our own metrics stack (kafka -> graphite)

  • Can we deploy an another heapster (based on origin container) on our platform to send metrics only to kafka sink ?

Environment

  • Openshift Enterprise 3.1.1
