How to print in "raw" mode in Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We have a printer that needs to receive the information from PDF files in raw mode so it can be interpreted by the printer.
  • The application that we use has formatting codes built in. How do we keep CUPS from changing those codes.
  • Our vendor has told us to disable CUPS filtering, how do we do this?
  • Our application is using a certain format to send characters/data to the printer that is already in a PCL format, how do we use CUPS to ensure print jobs are sent correctly without filtering?
  • We have Windows print queues set up to manage our network printers. How do I set up a raw print queue in RHEL to send print jobs to the Windows queues? I would prefer to use the command line versus a GUI tool.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • CUPS printing system
