sssd_be doesn't terminate forked child process if adcli is not installed

Issue

  • SSSD starts a lot of new processes and on reboot sssd halts the shutdown sequence.
  • Shutdown or reboot of server results in a hang or freeze at the "Stopping sssd:" output, requiring a manual power-cycling of the server.
  • sssd_be process runs many instances, using all memory.
  • Many zombie processes with sssd_be and several ldap_child process at 100%.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.8
  • sssd-1.13.3-22.el6_8.3
