docker push to docker-distribution with S3 storage fails with the message "HTTP status: 500 Internal Server Error"

Issue

• docker-distribution configured to use Amazon S3 storage. docker push fails with the message "Not continuing with error: Received unexpected HTTP status: 500 Internal Server Error". docker-distribution logs has the following message
