Is it possible to change Hitachi DF600F SAN/Storage array from Active/Passive to Active/Active?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We have 8 HBAs for san devices using native multipath. From the out below, seem only 4 paths are active and 4 standby.

  • How can we make all 8 paths active?

mpath1 (...someWWID....) dm-7 HITACHI,DF600F
[size=2.0T][features=0][hwhandler=0][rw]
\_ round-robin 0 [prio=4][active]
 \_ 9:0:0:15 sdbf 67:144 [active][ready]
 \_ 11:0:0:15 sdct 70:16 [active][ready]
 \_ 13:0:0:15 sdex 129:144 [active][ready]
 \_ 3:0:0:15 sdy 65:128 [active][ready]
\_ round-robin 0 [prio=0][enabled]
 \_ 4:0:0:15 sdab 65:176 [active][ready]
 \_ 10:0:0:15 sdbr 68:80 [active][ready]
 \_ 12:0:0:15 sddv 71:208 [active][ready]
 \_ 14:0:0:15 sdfs 130:224 [active][ready]
  • We have performance issue in our production RHEL server. When we checked with our storage vendor, they found that Multipath was configured as "one path is active and second path is enabled" . Storage vendor recommend us to change the multipath configuration as both path Active - Active. Is it possible to change Hitachi DF600F SAN/Storage array from Active/Passive to Active/Active?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 U5
  • device-mapper-multipath
  • Hitachi DF600F storage
