Starting the DHCPD service fails with the following error: "Internal inconsistency: storage value has not been initialized to zero" in DHCPD version 4.1.1

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • After upgrading from DHCPD 3.0.5 to DHCPD 4.1.1 on Red Hat Enterprise 6, carrying forward the existing configuration file- /etc/dhcpd.conf, the DHCPD service would not start.
  • Error reporting verbiage is vague and confusing

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • DHCPD 4.1.1
