GPT Partition table truncating data in the middle of a disk larger than 2.1TB on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
Issue
- On disks larger than 2.1TB, the partition table appears in the middle of device, runs over valid data in that location and causes corruption.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6
- IBM System x3850 X5
- QLogic ISP2532-based 8Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA
- IBM 2145 SAN
- Only LUNs larger than 2.1TB are affected (observed on 4.1TB LUNs).
