LVM commands returns message Duplicate of PV ABCD-xyz-xxx-2yyy-xx6x-xyzy-Ac0l5d dev /dev/sdX exists on unknown device 8:32 after removing and adding of disk in VMware

Issue

  • We have encountered an error , while extending the logical volume , and we have removed /dev/sdc HDD , after that we tried to add another new HDD to extend the file system , but it is throwing error , hence we added the hdd back , but at this time it is reading as "/dev/sde" instead of/dev/sdc , due to this we are facing the IO error message while executing the commands. 
 Duplicate of PV ABCD-xyz-xxx-2yyy-xx6x-xyzy-Ac0l5d dev /dev/sde exists on unknown device 8:32
