Running cut with -c, the --output-delimiter option is ignored

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Using the --output-delimiter option with cut -c doesn't work. The --output-delimiter option is ignored. (Note that cut behaves as expected in Fedora 17.)

    [user@RHEL]$ echo 1234567890 | cut -c1-3,6-7,9-10 --output-delimiter=,
    1236790
    ------------
    [user@FEDORA]$ echo 1234567890 | cut -c1-3,6-7,9-10 --output-delimiter=,
    123,67,90
