Why does my system hang with SCSI error 0x10000 in messages file?

  • Server went unresponsive with following messages visible in the logs:

    kernel: lpfc 0000:1c:00.0: 0:0203 Nodev timeout on WWPN 50:6:e:80:4:27:a4:3b NPort x630613 Data: x808 x7 x0
    kernel: lpfc 0000:1c:00.0: 0:0260 Remove Target scsi id x0
    kernel: SCSI error : <0 0 0 2> return code = 0x10000
    kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 313503
    dlmmgr: KAPL08019-E The path (0x000A0020) detected an error (0x00000000). (0x00000000)
