Useful clarifications about the use of NFSv4 and idmapper on RHEL6.3
Issue
- Questions raised about NFSv4 and idmapper:
- In order for permissions on the client side to show correctly (mapped to the correct users and not nobody) we need to create the same user and UID on nfs server and client?
- Once creating a user on both are there any services we need to restart?
- Is there any workaround to creating a user on client and server each time ?
- Can we not use rpcidmapd and use just standard UID to Username mappings as previously worked?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 or later
- NFS version 4 with idmapper
